I've been seeing a ton of videos on the OpenAI system ChatGPT so I decided to put it to the test and see what it knew about beer recipe creation. I love your videos and hope you make some new ones soon!
What happened to this channel?
Too much moisture in the floor was pushing up through your epoxy. Prep was more the issue epoxy is pretty good stuff.
Hi Brian, great video, one question, how did you get such large diameter tubing to connect to your liquid out?
I ended up with the NPT, mostly because when I ordered I didn't know the difference and have never used tri clamps. I will say that with the NPT make sure you use quick disconnect on both ends of every connection so you can easily swap the hoses around during brew day.
Great set up from a West Australian home brewer visiting his daughter in Thailand
The hands near the panel while it was hot was scary. You have a main panel outside and turned the power off there? So no power even at the top where the feed wires are connected? If not, those lugs at the top are still hot with 200+ amps - yes?
If the meter isn't pulled you are correct.
77°f or celsius did you chill it too?
Will it work on cooking oil ?
Don't see why not but you would probably have to adjust the parameters to get the flow rate accurate. 🤞
I just bought a refractometer especially made for wort
pretty cool overall, but I personally wouldnt go for warrior, mosaic or even citra hops. Yeah citra is almost default for hazies, but still. This has also turne out to be an orange juice like hazy, but I almost feel like there should be a distinction between hazies and milk likes, because this is very far from a milk like hazy, which I find to be in opposition to the haze craze name. It's less of crazy haze and more of a craze for mildly hazy beers. Like if this got served in Germany, nobody would consider this especially hazy for a non clear beer.
Hey Brian! Is it possible to connect a thermostat with xy-st10/st10-w, 10a relay, input power: dc6-30v, current 10a or less, thanks!
I don't understand why the red and black ports are connected incorrectly, the power port should be red? I don't know if it could cause a malfunction in the device.
It works fine. No damage to the chiller or controller. 👍
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers thank you
Thanks a lot great video! Do you think I can use it with an inverter fridge or it will mess the fridge up?
I'm not sure about that.
Can you use it as distilling? I would put fruit into the filter, like that the alcohol would go thru the fruit and at the end of the line , I would get a nice alcohol with the taste of fruit What do you think? Thank you
Brian, when you removed the neutral from the plug, will it affect my wall outlet that has all 4 plugins. I want to make sure it is workable.
still as relevant and informative as it was 2 years ago....
Have you calibrated refractometer (with de_ion water and adjusted scale to zero) before use???
Yes multiple times it is a proven fact they are not accurate.
Thanks for info, looks like I've got the same model. Calibrated it and opened a Dew Tullmore irish whisky 40% and tested. Refractometer showed 40% 🥃
Or you can use a ball lock with tubing on the gas side for a blow off. Seems more practical
True but it can get mucked up by blow off yeast etc. 👍🍻
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers I always disassemble and clean after my keg anyways. Put yeah you’re better off getting a 6.5 gallon corny and fermenting under pressure. They make lids now that have a 1.5” tri clamp fittings on the For hop drops
How small of a batch can you do on like an anvil or grainfather type systems. 5 gallons one type beer seems odd unless you know you love it
Only about 3 gallons depending on the gravity. The anvil 6.5 does smaller batches though. 👍
I brew propane but my dad just got an all in one system (vevor). Watching this so I can walk him through it, thank you for this
Welcome!

Why are some Yanks as fat as you? 'Is it, because of drinking too much beer?
Great video!
If I use a brew bag with a false bottom in the Foundry 6.5, can I fit more than 8 lbs? Any idea and if so how much more?
If I use a bag with a false bottom in the Foundry 6.5, will that let you brew with more than 8 lbs?
The bag really doesn't increase capacity unless you leave out the malt pipe. But you might get a couple more lbs at most.
Why no link to the insulation lines?
Great product.
Thanks, this is just what I needed to know
👍🍻
How long should it take to drain out after raising the grain pipe up? Because my screen was so clogged it took almost an hour for me to drain and sparge it..
I usually sparge until I get to volume. Try some rice hulls next time. 👍🍻
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers thanks for the reply. Assume you mean the full preboil volume? I did that on my first brew (only done two so far) but read in a book that if you sparge with too much water it raises acidity? Great vid btw
Brian, I need a video on tai clamp storage and I think you're right for the job. Can we get it?
Isn't distilled water bad for yeast? Something about ozmotic pressure or something, I remember Jamil talking about it in his podcast.
OK, I think I've figured out the corrections from your first video. The many comments below have helped. I only need to worry about the Sulfate (SO4) correction. So ... the SO4-S on the Ward report needs to be multiplied by 3 for SO4^2 on Brewfather, BUT - in this video you still have it shown as 16? Why didn't you change yours to 48? Confused why you didn't fix yours?
Would you use sparge additions on a 35L robobrew or just add your acid and minerals to the mash water?
Just the mash should be fine on that size of a batch.
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers thanks boss
Hello Brian, I need to control a water flow depending on the room temperature, lets say that the room needs to be at 80F and that theres a water sprinkler that works when the room hits 80F, could this controller get the sprinkler to run for lets say 15 minutes on and the 10 minutes off?, tahnks in advance and greetings from costa rica
It will not work that way.
thank you @@ShortCircuitedBrewers
Hi Thanks for the video. trying to get my head around The water treatment side of brewing. Made contact with our water board and got these results for our water quality. Have saved in brewfather. However i have noticed the +5% ions highlighted in red. Have i got the right data. On the brewfather water calc page it says "cations 0.82mEg/l ion balance +5%.?? Thanks for any assistance you can give.
Great video. I was wondering if you have used any of the false bottoms in any of Anvils electric systems? I have the 10.5 set up and have been wondering if the false bottom is worth spending the money on. Thanks
Many thanks. 👍
Good suggestion on the 6 gal keg. Looks like it will even fit in my fermentation kegerator. Just had a massive blowout through my 5 gal through the spunding valve.
Good thing for a spunding valve!
Great thanks for that
Thanks for the vid. Is there a function whereby the software can find or suggest a recipe in the library with what you have left in the inventory? It would be cool if it was possible
I don't think there is a function like that. I've done some chat gpt stuff with food recipes might be something to try out with beer ingredients. 👍🍻
Any tips on using the quick carb on Sankey kegs
I would suggest getting a sanke to ball lock adapter (amzn.to/3Ta0Yf1) and remember the carb time is for 5 gallons. Double or triple accordingly.
Is there an in-line GFCI option for240 at 30 A? Or 50 A?
There are and you can find them by searching ship to shore power. But they're pretty cost prohibitive when you compare the pricing to installing a dedicated breaker in your service
Ok thanks. As a guy handy enough to do something stupid, building an inline GFCI seems so much safer than messing with my panel to swap out a breaker. No?
@@marklpaulick sure you could do that you can actually buy a spa disconnect panel and create a cord out of both ends of that. That is a lot easier than getting into your main panel. 👍🍻
Why do you need a neutral load- side wire connected to the breaker? Does the brew equipment use 120V for something?
Yes. My controller has 120v components inside so I do use the neutral.
What happens if you make a half strength Star San solution? Does it still clean? Or would I just be wasting product?
It is not as acidic as a properly diluted solution. So it would be less effective at sanitizing.
5:18, do we have to set the pump into a container, or can it be set under or to the side of a utility sink ?
It can be set freestanding anywhere..I needed the tub to have a place to put the assembly. 👍🍻
Thanks for the tip @@ShortCircuitedBrewers
